The adventure begins the moment you board your Big Red Jeep and depart on a 40-minute journey through the lush agricultural lands at the Eastern end of the Coachella Valley.  Discover why this part of the valley is called the Salad Bowl as your guide explains the importance of agriculture to the economy of the Palm Springs area.  As we work our way East, you will enjoy incredible views of the Salton Sea, the second largest inland body of water in the United States, where over 400 species of migratory birds rest and nest on their migratory path along the pacific flyway.  Then we are on to the awe-inspiring painted hills. Thrust up by tectonic collisions and cut into endless mazes by erosion, these steep-walled canyons offer some of the most spectacular scenery, tortured rock formations, and amazing colors seen in the desert.

• This tour has a 2 person minimum.

Tour Advisory: 

• Guests with neck or back injuries and women who are pregnant are advised to consult with their doctor before taking any Jeep Eco-Tour.

• There are NO RESTROOMS available on this tour.

Things to Bring:

• Wear closed-toe shoes with rubber soles (such as tennis shoes or hiking boots).  Sandals and shoes with high heels are not recommended.

• Wear comfortable clothing - we recommend you dress in layers as desert temperatures can change quickly.  In the cooler months (November through March), we suggest you bring a light sweater or jacket. 

• Bring a hat and sunglasses and apply sunscreen before the tour.

• Don't forget your camera or video camera and make sure your batteries are charged up and you have plenty of film.

• Go South on Cook Street (heading toward Highway 111 and downtown Palm Desert).
• Continue on Cook Street approximately 2.6 miles.
• Turn right onto Hovely Lane East (first major intersection past Country Club Drive).

• Due to BLM restrictions, guests must hike (through sometimes deep sand) into some of the canyons on this tour.  Therefore,  proper walking/hiking shoes are required for this adventure. The amount of hiking can be adjusted on this tour according to guest preference and ability.   Hikes range from easy to challenging (based on guest preference).
